Terminal Manager
What the job is like
Terminal managers leads, directs and manages all of the work at a freight terminal, for all inbound and outbound activities.
Responsibilities include supervise and oversee entire operation, driver recruitment, operations, customer relations, P & L, safety and maintenance oversight.
Essential skills or attributes
- Intermediate Computer Skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems
- Intermediate Math Skills (Algebra, Statistics, Geometry)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and business etiquette (customer service)
- Basic knowledge of transportation rules and regulations
- Understanding of supply chain strategies and processes
- Understanding of supply chain and warehouse theory
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations and compliance
- Experience in the application of regulatory compliance
- Production and Resource Scheduling
- Labor Management
- Coaching and Training
- Experience in budgets
- Experience in P & L (Profit and Loss)
- Experience in staff supervision and management
- Ability to read and interpret industry related reports and data
- Experience in International Transportation
- Negotiation skills
Usual required training
High School Diploma/GED. Some companies may require a Bachelor’s Degree. Some college is valued.
