Mechanic/Diesel Technician
What the job is like
Mechanics, or diesel/auto technicians, are responsible for keeping the vehicles of a company in good repair and well maintained.
This is an active job that takes place in a garage.
There may some rush jobs and teamwork in trying to get vehicles or needed equipment back on the job.
Essential skills or attributes
- Beginner Computer Skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
- Basic Math Skills (Addition, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication, Fractions, Percentages)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of transportation rules and regulations
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations and compliance
- Experience in the application of regulatory compliance
Usual required training
High School Diploma/ GED. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required. Experience required varies by company.
