Position Title
Government Compliance Specialist or Manager
What the job is like
This job takes place in an office, but also in all areas of the company because this position involves seeing that all areas – even offices – are in compliance with federal regulations.
This means reading and keeping up with those regulations, interpreting, training, and implementing precautions or processes.
Duties include:
- Maintain records/documentation (e.g. Federal Aviation Agency, Department of Transportation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, military);
- Plan, implement and conduct programs to train managers and employees;
- Assess and audit facilities to detect existing or potential violations;
- Determine preventative measures;
- Track laws and regulations that may affect the organization’s policies or practices.
Essential skills or attributes
- Beginner Computer Skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
- Basic Math Skills (Addition, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication, Fractions, Percentages)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and business etiquette (customer service)
- Basic knowledge of transportation rules and regulations
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations and compliance
- Experience in the application of regulatory compliance
- Coaching and Training
- Ability to read and interpret industry related reports and data
Usual required training
High School Diploma/GED. Bachelors Degree, Associate’s Degree or some college may be required.
Experience required varies by company. Industry related training requirements vary by company.
Management usually requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
