Position Title
Receiving Clerk
What the job is like
Receiving clerks validate product received with packing slip and purchase order; inspect packages for integrity (damage or no damage) and record product received into computer/logs and deliver product(s) to end user or staging area.
They are responsible for making a count of received items and surveying them for damage.
They record the product to log it into the system, usually by scanning a bar code.
Essential skills or attributes
- Intermediate Computer Skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
- Basic Math Skills (Addition, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication, Fractions, Percentages)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of warehouse strategies and processes
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations and compliance
- Experience in the application of regulatory compliance
- Ability to read and interpret industry related reports and data
- Negotiation skills
Usual required training
High School Diploma/GED. Some companies require industry training and/or experience.
